Dr Susan Bean, curator, Peabody Essex Museum, Massachusetts, and a specialist in visual cultures of modern South Asia, traced the trade and cultural exchanges between the United States of America and India in the 19th century.

In this publication, Dr. Bean explores how Bombay - its people, happenings, and sites - so distant in space and cultural practice, served as a foil for Americans to consider their own moral and intellectual character, the rise and fall of civilizations, and the place of their new republican nation in the world.

A chronicle of the events that lead to the formation of Indian National Steam Shipowners' Association (INSOA) in 1929. Mr Vasant J Sheth served as it's President in 1956-57 as well as 1969-70. The book recounts the history of Indian shipping and maritime trade in the early years and traces the impact of the Industrial Revolution.
